Richard David James (born 18 August 1971), best known under the pseudonym Aphex Twin, is a electronic musician and composer from the UK, with many alternate names. He started his career in 1985, and in 1991 he started Rephlex Records record label with Grant Wilson-Claridge. He is widely regarded as one of the most influential figures in contemporary electronic music.

His music spans over IDM, drum ‘n’ bass, jungle, ambient and many more. His first full length album, Selected Ambient Works 85-92, received high ratings, and from that point he started to gain more and more success. In 1997 he released Come to Daddy, and in 1999 Window Licker, which he gained a lot of success with.

Chris Cunningham created the videos for Window Licker and Come to Daddy, and with the 2001 release of Drukqs, Chris made the video for Afx237 V7, better known as Johnny Rubber. Most of the videos have been regarded as controversial.

Aphex Twin is still going strong, and he has released many singles, EPs and albums during his career. And in October 2010, he stated in the British magazine Another Man, that he has completed 6 new albums, in which Melodies From Mars are expected to be released in the future.
